Music Lives in AP!

07/22/2010

As if Asbury Park doesn’t already represent one of the most musically historic and well-known regions in the country, we will really make a statement in 2011! Where Music Lives 2011 will bring in the New Year and take over our city.  Year after year cities around the country are hosts to the traveling New Harmonies exhibit developed by the Smithsonian Museum of American History. The Smithsonian now accolades Asbury Park by choosing us to accommodate this historic year-long event kicking off in five short months.  Watch out Bruce!

What better way to announce this musical heritage celebration than at one of Asbury Park’s concerts!?  Mayor Ed Johnson took full advantage of the opportunity and couldn’t wait to get everyone excited at the July 2nd Southside Johnny concert.  The New Harmonies exhibit will highlight musical history in America with a strong focus on Asbury Park.  Musical historians will be traveling with the exhibit delivering lectures to attendees, enlightening them on all there is to know about music from our prestigious past.  Throughout the year concerts will be held to emphasize music’s impact on each and every one of us while keeping in mind the very powerful educational aspect.

To get the residents of Asbury Park excited about Where Music Lives 2011 and to further keep them informed throughout the ceremonies is M Studio and their creative spin on things!  The design team is in the process of creating the program’s website, logo and PR and looks forward to its jump-start in the near future.

We excitedly invite the Smithsonian’s New Harmonies exhibit to help us expand our minds and to look at (and hear) our city’s music in a whole new way!
